Health Career Lab and Coalition Partners Mark Celebrated Program Milestones
The CHIME program is a collaboration with the region’s largest healthcare employers to provide a 15-week training program for those already serving in healthcare roles and poised for growth.
Health Career Lab (HCL), an initiative that connects job seekers with opportunities in healthcare, and the Healthcare Workforce Innovation Coalition, a band of diverse public and private local organizations united to elevate the community, announced several momentous milestones today anchored in the mission to remove barriers to employment and fuel a healthy Louisville economy. HCL is spearheaded by CEOC.
“Aligned with our Louisville partner and member organizations, we are committed to elevating those currently in the healthcare industry and attract those who have yet to experience its rewarding work,” said Tammy York Day, President and CEO of CEOC. “Together, we are fostering new career pathways, more job opportunities and innovative ways of reaching people who have been underseen and underserved.”
HCL is powered by the united passion of its Coalition members and a shared commitment to inspire change by challenging the status quo, evidenced by the milestones below:
CHIME Program to Host Inaugural Graduation
On Aug. 24, the Collaborative Healthcare Institute for Managerial Excellence (CHIME) will celebrate its first graduating cohort of 24 individuals who were hand-selected by their respective healthcare employers. The CHIME program is a collaboration with the region’s largest healthcare employers to provide a 15-week training program for those already serving in healthcare roles and poised for growth. These CHIME graduates earned four credit hours toward a bachelor’s degree in organizational development at the University of Louisville (UofL), achieved an official UofL Digital Badge and gained a broader network of connections to local healthcare peers and leaders. Three of the graduates from this initial cohort have already advanced their careers through promotions.
Launch of Foundational Skills Courses to Expand Reach
The STARS program, offered through HCL, will launch its first week-long training program Aug. 28, with sessions held every other week through December. The one-week course offers important skills from resume building and mock interviews to interpersonal connection and organizational culture. The program is designed to serve those entering healthcare for the first time or returning to healthcare for advancement. Louisville Urban League, Metro United Way and the recruiters and career advisors across CEOC and HCL stand ready to serve the current and future healthcare workforce of the greater Louisville community. Technical Training Programs Reach New Job Seekers
HCL partners with local organizations who have complementary missions and programs, like AMPED, offering a 12-week technology training program beginning Sept. 5 and the University of Louisville, currently running a series of a Digital Literacy Train the Trainer cohorts this fall to upskill community trainers to provide foundational digital knowledge across Louisville’s communities. Ongoing progress and milestones will be shared as this important work continues.
Finding A Home in the Healthcare Workplace
HCL congratulates a recent participant on their successful journey, resulting in a new job placement with a local healthcare organization. HCL’s innovative Talent Marketplace is available to all individuals looking for a job in healthcare. Each person will be connected with a dedicated career coach or recruiter to support their needs and design a personal pathway into a career in healthcare, helping them navigate the daunting job search process. Through the team of expert career advisors, everyone who applies receives the support they need – from additional training to removing barriers – to connect to new opportunities in the Louisville healthcare market.
Health Career Lab Team Expands to Meet Needs
HCL welcomes six new professionals to join the impactful work of the initiative, each bringing unique expertise to support and advance the Louisville healthcare workforce. The applicant experience, including programming and training, is reliant on team members to guide candidates through the process, offering support and help to overcome barriers as they embark on a new career pathway.
“The healthcare field offers incredibly rewarding opportunities and each of our new team members holds the talent and skill to guide job seekers to one that is right for them,” said Dr. Bria Henson, Executive Director of HCL. “Through the deep bench of expertise across our full HCL roster, we will continue to elevate the greater Louisville area by harnessing the power of collaboration between healthcare employers, higher education, workforce development and community partners.”
The current efforts underway by CEOC, HCL and the Coalition are a driving force in healthcare workforce innovation and health equity. HCL has a standing invitation to other organizations with an aligned vision and equal passion for the people of Greater Louisville.
