  • On Thursday 1 July the FEMM Committee will consider the draft monitoring report on Equality between women and men in the European Union for the period 2018-2020.
  • The rapporteur draws up a list of concrete measures to be taken by the Member States and new avenues to be explored in all areas, including women's equal access to work with rights and decent wages, the promotion of collective bargaining, the closing of the gender pay gap, the eradication of precarious work, the revalorisation of work, workers and wages in general and sanctions against companies that do not comply with labour law and perpetuate discriminatory practices.
  • The report also strongly calls for the protection of maternity and paternity through increased periods of leave without loss of salary, a right to reduce working hours for breastfeeding up to at least 2 years and other measures to reconcile professional life with family and personal life.
