Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) is pleased to welcome Grupo México Transportes (GMXT) as a new partner in its CG Railway, LLC (CGR) joint venture, pending receipt of regulatory approvals for their purchase of equity interests in CGR.

Last week, GMXT announced its intention to purchase SEACOR’s stake in CGR and become G&W’s new joint venture partner for CGR.

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) announced that, effective today, it has entered into a partnership with CN involving G&W’s Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway (CBNS).

Under this partnership, CN will acquire a stake in CBNS and manage interline movements for customers, while a G&W subsidiary will continue to operate the CBNS line from Truro to Point Tupper, Nova Scotia.
“This partnership fully leverages the expertise of both a local, first- and last-mile railroad and a Class I railway that is part of the broader North American freight-rail network,” says Rick McLellan, president of G&W’s Canadian operations.

(G&W), today filed a petition with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to pilot new zero-emission rail-freight technology from Parallel Systems on portions of their rail lines.

GC and HOG believe the development and anticipated adoption of this technology has the potential to capture new container business moving to and from the Port of Savannah, as well as reinvigorate traffic on rural rail lines and revive inland ports in Georgia – all while removing trucks from the region’s roads and reducing carbon emissions.
If approved, the multi-phased pilot would begin next year and be overseen by the FRA, G&W and Parallel Systems – allowing G&W and Parallel Systems to demonstrate the technology in a field setting while using carefully developed protocols to ensure the pilot is operated in a safe, controlled manner.
